COLUMNIST, Anomaly
I write a monthly books column for Anomaly, drawing together  my interests in science, philosophy, literature, and nature writing.

MANAGING EDITOR, The Rational Online
The
Rational Online is an international online magazine that advocates for women’s rights. I am generating content and editing pieces by our writers for the site, organizing our internal structure, and designing our product. We published our first collection in early November.

ARTS & CULTURE EDITOR, Entropy
At Entropy, I sought work by contributors who had thought deeply about the subject they’d chosen to cover, and whose writing conveyed that depth.

FREELANCE FACT CHECKER, Via Magazine
I check names, dates, locations, distances, and all factual statements in assigned articles appearing in Via magazine and on their blog.

Recommendation from Rebecca Smith Hurd, Managing Editor, Via:

“Responsible and reliable are the two words that immediately come to mind when I think about Sarah’s work as a freelance fact-checker for Via, AAA’s travel magazine in nine Western states. She has deftly researched everything from short, front-of-the-book articles about visiting a single destination to in-depth feature stories about the future of road trips and automobile technology. She continually demonstrates good judgment, and she does not hesitate to make follow-up inquiries to ensure clarity and accuracy. Bonus points: She has the neatest handwriting of any creative I’ve ever worked with. She would be an asset to any editorial team, and I’m grateful she’s part of mine.”

FREELANCE WRITER, Brooklyn Magazine, BUST.com, Gulf Coast, BOMB, Guernica, and the Los Angeles Review of Books
For these publications and others, I’ve written book reviews, profiles of artists, essays, short fiction, and author interviews.

TEACHING APPRENTICE, Solano Community College
As a TA at Solano, I worked closely with English professors to learn pedagogy, grading essays and other work, preparing short lectures, and guiding students to comprehension of difficult subject matter.

STAFF WRITER, the Campanil
At the Campanil, I published 3-4 feature stories per semester, working closely with editors. I received Honorable Mention for Best Feature Story from the California College Media Association 2016.
